The Farmington Rio Del Sol Kiwanis club is dedicated to serving the local community through various service and fundraising projects. We are part of Kiwanis International, an organization serving children in local communities for over 100 years.
We’d love for you to come join us at one of our meetings or a service project.
We meet every Thursday at Noon at No Worries Bar and Grill located at the Farmington Airport, Farmington, NM 87401. Bring your appetite and your energy as we discuss upcoming projects and hear from people in our community.
Help the Rio del Sol Kiwanis Foundation in Farmington support the children in need.
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
All donations are tax deductible.

Projects for Kids
Our club is actively involved in our community helping children in need. More can be found by clicking the Our Projects button below.
Kiwanis Clothes for Kids at Target provides $100/each for school clothes for approximately 300 children.
November each Year
Coats for Kids program provides hundreds of warm winter coats to San Juan County boys and girls.
November each Year
Scholastic Books for Kids program provides books for every child in a title 1 school in our district.
Kiwanis Shoes for Kids program provides new athletic shoes and socks to children attending Boys and Girls Clubs.
Farmington Rio del Sol Kiwanis Meetings

Tom Taylor
Tom Taylor – NM Department of Transportation Commissioner District 5. Tom’s presentation will entail information about our highways and state highways in general. Tom mentioned that Farmington serves a retail sector of about 250,000 people from 4 states. We have an average of 40,000 visitors daily. (so now we know why traffic in Farmington is so heavy)

Warren Unsicker
Warren Unsicker – Director of Economic Development for the City of Farmington, will be sharing with us some the latest major projects happening in the City of Farmington. Many new and exciting things are underway and soon to be constructed in the City. They include major parks, roadway extensions, river features, and more growth in the Downtown core. There are also exciting plans being created to help craft the future of the community.

Mike Lewis
Mike Lewis – Airport Manager of Four Corners Regional Airport. Mike will give a general update of the airport activities and discuss any major projects or issues. He’ll give an airport/airline service update along with some of the challenges they face. Mike started his career in Farmington in 1987 working for Mesa Airlines. He’ll be happy to answer any questions about the airport, the airlines, or aviation in general.

David Vega
Fire Chief, David Vega, and Division Chief. Shaylee Aurnhammer. In the last 5 years, San Juan County Fire & Rescue has responded to four incidents of people falling in a septic tank, two of those calls resulted in a child’s death. Not everyone uses a septic system, but around 30,000 systems are in use in the county. Our goal is that no more children die in a preventable manner by falling in an unsecured septic tank.

Wally Dorman
Wally Dorman with Wally D Sports Scholarship Foundation is looking forward to sharing their efforts to support student athletes in our community. Students who are eligible to receive a scholarship are all seniors who participate in a sport. The top 4 nominees will be invited to an Awards Banquet on June 27th at Farmington Civic Center.
