The Farmington Rio Del Sol Kiwanis club is dedicated to serving the local community through various service and fundraising projects. We are part of Kiwanis International, an organization serving children in local communities for over 100 years.
We’d love for you to come join us at one of our meetings or a service project.
We meet every Thursday at Noon at No Worries Bar and Grill located at the Farmington Airport, Farmington, NM 87401. Bring your appetite and your energy as we discuss upcoming projects and hear from people in our community.
Help the Rio del Sol Kiwanis Foundation in Farmington support the children in need.
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
All donations are tax deductible.

Projects for Kids
Our club is actively involved in our community helping children in need. More can be found by clicking the Our Projects button below.
Kiwanis Clothes for Kids at Target provides $100/each for school clothes for approximately 300 children.
November each Year
Coats for Kids program provides hundreds of warm winter coats to San Juan County boys and girls.
November each Year
Scholastic Books for Kids program provides books for every child in a title 1 school in our district.
Kiwanis Shoes for Kids program provides new athletic shoes and socks to children attending Boys and Girls Clubs.
Farmington Rio del Sol Kiwanis Meetings

Larry Palmer
Larry Palmer, CEO Catholic Charities. Larry’s presentation is ‘911 National Day of Service.’ This Day of Service is the largest Day of Service in the Nation. He is looking for a Co-Chair for the event. They also support the Memorial Stair Climb by providing volunteers. He is also looking for a Kiwanis member will serve on a committee to organize Key Club volunteers and Kiwanis members.

You will meet a real live Geisha Girl – one of our club members! Some of our members took a trip to Japan last fall. Fran and Steve Ellison and Jim and Barb Luther will show pictures and tell about their adventures including a 3 day hike. This will be the next best thing to being there.

Joan Hamblen Monninger
Joan Hamblen Monninger, Executive Director of the Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village will share updates, programs and concert details for their upcoming season celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the museum & grounds. The museum’s anniversary theme is “What We Keep: Material Culture in Historic Preservation” and features a new special exhibit “Doors to the Past” honoring the area’s unique heritage.

Tom Taylor – NM Department of Transportation Commissioner District 5. Tom’s presentation will entail information about our highways and state highways in general. Tom mentioned that Farmington serves a retail sector of about 250,000 people from 4 states. We have an average of 40,000 visitors daily. (so now we know why traffic in Farmington is so heavy)

Warren Unsicker
Warren Unsicker – Director of Economic Development for the City of Farmington, will be sharing with us some the latest major projects happening in the City of Farmington. Many new and exciting things are underway and soon to be constructed in the City. They include major parks, roadway extensions, river features, and more growth in the Downtown core. There are also exciting plans being created to help craft the future of the community.
